La Therapie Review

La Therapie
La Therapie

La Therapie began primarily as a company that supplies high-quality pharmaceutical grade products to doctors and spas. Until recently, consumers could not purchase La Therapie on their own without visiting one of these other sources.

La Therapie

But La Therapie recently created its own line of at-home products. While the company does have a solid reputation among many professionals, its consumer-based formulas seem outdated.

Featured Ingredients

La Therapie’s premier anti-aging formula is the Crème Hydralift, which is supposed to enhance moisture in the skin and thus provide the foundation for wrinkle reduction.

The formula, like many in La Therapie’s line, contains a base of Glycolic Acid, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. While these ingredients were used quite often in the late 1990s, they recently have fallen out of favour with most skincare professionals.

Prior to 1992, Glycolic Acid was available only by prescription because it was such a strong alpha-hydroxyl acid that could cause s irritation and peeling. Research has since questioned the use of this ingredient because of the risk of side effects.

Vitamins A and C, although they are useful antioxidants that can protect the skin from damage associated with wrinkles, are also outdated because most vitamins in skin products are synthetic. Newer, more powerful antioxidants from botanical sources – such as Green Tea, White Tea and Grape Seed Extract – are better choices.

La Therapie Crème Hydralift also claims to help reduce the signs of aging by including extract from caviar. While this may sound exotic – and even though there is limited scientific evidence suggesting that caviar contains many nutrients that can help the skin – there does not seem to be enough of this ingredient in the product to do anything more than make its high price excusable.

Positives

  • Limited research suggests that caviar may indeed help the skin

Negatives

  • Glycolic Acid, Vitamin A and Vitamin C are outdated choices
  • No collagen boosting ingredients such as Glucosamine
  • No free trial information

Conclusion

While La Therapie may offer a well-known line of anti-aging products for spas and doctor’s offices, its at-home line seems to fall short. While most people will not be harmed by using this formula, spending this much money on a formula that lacks essential components for healthy skin does not seem warranted. La Therapie’s Crème Hydralift would – at best – be a supportive formula for other, more powerful formulas.
